This Saturday we will celebrate one of Britain’s special and unique festivals – Bonfire Night.
The history of this day goes back hundreds of years to a failed assassination plot of the king in the Houses of Parliament led by a man called Guy Fawkes. Traditionally an effigy of him would be burned on a bonfire to celebrate the attack being foiled. Nowadays, it is best known for loud and colourful fireworks illuminating the night sky.
This Saturday 3rd November we will travel to Hexham to watch the fireworks display there. Meet at 4:30pm inside Eldon Square bus station – we will take the public bus together. You don’t need to sign up, but bring £4.40 for the bus fare, as well as warm and waterproof clothes! Just look for the Globe flag when you arrive in the bus station.
After the display we will go to a church building to share hot drinks together before returning to Newcastle. All being well we will be back at 21:34.
There really is nothing like Bonfire Night, so don’t miss out – join us!
